Mohammed Abdu Misses AlUla Concert Due to Health Issue Rabeh Saqr Steps In

AlUla – May 23, 2025
Saudi music legend Mohammed Abdu will not appear at his scheduled concert in AlUla due to a sudden health issue. The news was confirmed by Rotana Live, the official concert organizer.

In a statement, Rotana said,

“The Arab Artist, Mohammed Abdu, will not perform at the AlUla concert due to a health condition. We ask God for his full recovery.”

As a replacement, fellow singer Rabeh Saqr will take the stage. The decision was made at Mohammed Abdu’s personal request.

Rotana added:

“Rabeh Saqr, Abdu’s close friend and artistic partner, was invited to perform on this special night.”

The 75-year-old singer, known affectionately as “Abu Noura,” has a massive fan base across Saudi Arabia and the Arab world. Concern quickly spread online after the announcement, with thousands sending prayers and wishes for his recovery.

Rotana did not share further details about Abdu’s health. However, it’s worth noting that he publicly revealed in 2024 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and had begun treatment in Germany.

The concert in AlUla was part of the “Thnaya in AlUla” series and was set to coincide with the launch of Abdu’s new album, “Loyalty to Badr,” a tribute to the late poet Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen. The album includes compositions by Dr. Talal and explores the artist’s deep connection with the late poet.

Despite his absence in AlUla, Mohammed Abdu is still expected to perform in Khobar on June 9, at the Dhahran Expo Theater, as part of the Eid Al-Adha events — unless his health condition requires more rest.
