Veteran Syrian actress Fadwa Mohsen has passed away at the age of 84, according to an announcement by the Syrian Artists Syndicate on Facebook.
The cause of her death has not been revealed. Funeral and burial details will be shared later by the syndicate.
A Career Filled with Memorable Roles
Fadwa Mohsen was born on February 26, 1941, in Deir ez-Zor, Syria. She began her acting career in the mid-1980s but rose to fame in 1992 through the TV series “Tarabish”, which marked her breakthrough.
She later became well known for her role as “Umm Ibrahim” in the famous drama series “Bab Al-Hara”, which aired over multiple seasons. Her character was widely loved by audiences.
A Pillar in Syrian Television and Theater
Throughout her career, Mohsen acted in many notable productions, including:
- What Your Right Hands Possess
- Small Hearts
- Sons of Oppression (2009)
In cinema, she appeared in the 2018 Syrian film “Amina”, a movie that explored women’s suffering in difficult environments.
Her performance was powerful, despite a limited screen presence. She was known for her simple, realistic acting style, a reflection of the classic school of Syrian theater and drama she came from.
Long Absence Due to Health
In recent years, Fadwa Mohsen had been largely absent from Syrian drama, due to personal and health-related reasons.
The Syrian Artists Syndicate described her as a respected artist who enriched Arab television with heartfelt performances and left behind a legacy that touched generations.
