Amr Moussa Warns of Growing Strain in Saudi-Egypt Relations

Amr Moussa

Cairo – May 21, 2025
Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa has raised concerns about what he described as deliberate efforts to damage the long-standing relationship between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Moussa described the relationship between the two Arab powers as a “pillar of the Arab world,” and warned that it is currently under threat.

“The strong relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt is a major pillar of the Arab world that is currently being sought to be broken,” Moussa wrote.

A Call to Preserve Strategic Ties

Moussa called on both nations and their citizens to work together to protect and strengthen the relationship, especially in the face of outside attempts to create division.

He added,

“We must all nurture this relationship and support its progress. Do not expose it to skeptics and backstabbers. We must not fall into their trap.”

He also urged social media users across the region to use digital platforms responsibly, encouraging them to focus on building a positive Arab future rather than spreading misinformation or harmful commentary.

Message to Arab Youth

In previous comments, Amr Moussa has consistently highlighted the need for unity and thoughtful dialogue across the Arab world. He once addressed Arab youth, warning them not to engage in hostile debates on social media based on rumors or misinterpreted political commentary.

“Don’t be drawn into violent comment wars. Many of these posts are based on false or malicious information,” he advised.

Moussa’s comments come during a sensitive period in regional politics, as several Arab nations face internal and external pressures. His statements appear to reflect growing concerns about miscommunication and misinformation affecting diplomatic ties.
