Joby Aviation May Sell 200 Electric Aircraft in Saudi Arabia Through Abdul Latif Jameel

Joby Aviation just signed a major deal.

The electric aircraft company plans to work with Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ), a top Saudi business group.

They want to distribute up to 200 electric air taxis in Saudi Arabia. The deal is worth about $1 billion.

It’s not final yet. But both sides have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

This means they plan to work together and will share more details later this year.

This could make ALJ Joby’s biggest distributor in the Kingdom.

Joby builds eVTOLs electric aircraft that can take off and land vertically, like helicopters.

Instead of flying them alone, Joby wants partners in other countries to sell and support their aircraft.

ALJ is a smart partner.

They’ve worked with Toyota in Saudi Arabia for over 70 years.

They know how to run sales, service, and training.

Joby already has strong ties with Toyota too.

This deal could help Joby grow faster and spend less money entering the Saudi market.

Saudi Arabia is also investing in new tourism zones like the Red Sea Project and AlUla.

Electric air taxis could help move people around these areas quickly and cleanly.

Even with this Saudi partnership, Joby will first launch in Dubai in 2026, then in the U.S.

But Saudi Arabia could become a major market very fast.

This deal is part of a larger wave of U.S.–Saudi partnerships in tech and clean energy.

Recently, Saudi firm DataVolt announced a $20 billion investment in U.S. AI and energy projects.

Big American tech companies like Google and Oracle are also investing in Saudi Arabia.

This Joby–ALJ deal is just one more sign that Saudi Arabia is betting big on future tech.
