Jeddah – May 18, 2025
Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah, sponsored the closing ceremony of the 16th University of Jeddah Holy Quran Competition.
The event was held at the University’s conference center and included students, officials, and community members.
Over 1,000 Students Participated
This year’s competition saw more than 1,000 students compete.
They came from schools and universities across Jeddah.
The competition included:
- Four categories for school and university students
- Three categories for students with disabilities
- A Technology Challenge with three tracks
- A Quranic calligraphy contest
- A “Verse and Image” photo contest
All of these tracks aimed to promote love for the Quran in new and creative ways.
Prince Tours the Quran Tech Exhibition
Before the ceremony, Prince Saud toured an exhibition linked to the event.
The exhibition featured more than 60 technical projects focused on serving and preserving the Holy Quran.
The ideas came from students and developers committed to merging faith and technology.
Honoring the Winners
During the event, winners were honored for their excellence in memorization and recitation of the Quran.
Special awards were also given for creativity and innovation.
Students took the stage to receive their prizes in front of a large audience.
Inspiring Words from the Prince
In his speech, Prince Saud praised the students and the organizers.
He expressed his pride in the high quality of the participants.
He also encouraged the youth to stay close to the Quran and follow its teachings in their lives.
“This competition strengthens values and builds a generation connected to the Book of Allah,” he said.
The Role of the University
Dr. Adnan Al-Humaidan, the Acting President of Jeddah University, attended the event.
He thanked the Prince for his support.
He said the university will continue to support Quranic programs and promote religious education among youth.
More Than a Competition
Dr. Fahd Al-Atri, the Secretary-General of the competition, said that this event is not just a contest.
It is a way to spread Quranic culture and encourage values like patience, discipline, and respect.
He also thanked the organizing committees, sponsors, and volunteers.
